My Story
Irina Surikova grew up in the Baltic country of Lithuania and has lived in New Zealand since 2000. She recently moved from Auckland to Cambridge having decided to change her professional career from accountant to that of Fine Artist.
'My great passion is painting’ she says, 'having been introduced to the beautiful world of colour by my oil artist father who is descended from a famous Russian historical oil painter, and my water colourist mother with her love of fashion, music and dance. My subject matter varies from portraiture to figurative style .I enjoyed the freedom of leaning and perfecting my technique in variety of different media... Acrylic,Charcoal and oil on canvas using a modelling pasta.I love to become immersed in my work and feel joy, passion and pleasure in the process. Each piece has a story to tell and I wish for my viewers to be captivated and experience the joy that I feel in the creation’.
